in case you're wondering why I never seem to post anymore, part of the reason is that debboamerik posts everything first. she does not, however, have a picture.
speaking of pictures, we did in fact settle on an engagement ring; it's 18kt white gold. we should have them by Saturday. and I cut my hair. -

newsflash: I do, in fact, believe in Jehovah and Jesus; I don't believe in Christianity. this isn't new, but I only just figured it out. it also doesn't make me not pagan; I'm still a polytheist, and Jehovah/Jesus aren't foremost in my pantheon. -
just another manic Monday...
our Easter tea party was a huge success. everyone loved the food; cucumber&creamcheese and watercress&cheddar finger sandwiches, plain and cinnamon scones, crumpets, sausage rolls, apple cake, and trifle, all homemade. our friends all enjoyed each other's company, the kids (and grownups) loved the Easter egg hunt, and we found most of the eggs (the ( Read more... ) -

Orthodox Lent is early this year (it starts this Sunday) so this week is cheese fair, the last time til Orthodox Easter (excluding feast days and Sundays) my girlfriend can have cheese (similarly, last week was meat fair, but since I was having intestinal misery, we couldn't really revel in it). went to the grocery store in honor of this and bought ( Read more... ) -

i've decided to do a modified version of the Orthodox Lenten fast with Jenise (she's an American Orthodox Christian). she didn't ask, but i've been thinking about it off and on since the period of the Christmas fast; we've had a lot of discussions and debates about the spiritual significance and rewards of fasting, and it's an experience i'd like ( Read more... ) -

i've gotten pretty good at recognizing when i'm being petty and irrational. i usually manage not to take it out on innocent bystanders, and i can even communicate it effectively when necessary. that's a huge change from who i used to be, i'm happy and proud of my progress. i do not, however, feel obligated in any way to feel less petty and ( Read more... ) -

RANDOMNESS:
- i just spent $25 on non-edible cat supplies; this should make my bathroom a happier place for everyone.
- miles could quite happily spend every moment he's not ingesting or eliminating something playing with me or curled up asleep on some part of my body; i should find this more endearing than irritating.
